Pros
• Huge Return on Investment (ROI) - Email Marketing has a better chance of giving you sales over other marketing practices. This is because having someone's email, is a sign that they like you and know your organization already, so there's an interest in your product. Whereas a random post on social media can reach many people, but they could also be people that have no interest in your product/
• Price Efficient - Email Marketing is significantly cheaper than other Marketing revenues.
• Targeted Audience - Email Platforms have great was to sort and filter your audience into different categories, so you can send specific emails to specific groups of people.
• Great for Marketing Solutions - With Email Marketing, you learn who is opening what emails and what emails are doing better than others. This allows for you to optimize your emails for better open rates.
• Contact Focused - Marketing Emails allow for a straightforward line of communication between you and the customer.
• Automation Features - Email Marketing Systems allow for you to create many automation emails that can send out emails all on their own! They can send emails to people that haven't opened emails in a while, and with the proper wording and maybe a discount, can help you make some new sales!
Cons
• Spam - Many email systems will mark your emails as spam and your emails may not reach your audience.
• Email Fatigue - Most people do not open emails and just junk them.
• Not as Engaging - Due to Email Fatigue, many people may not care for emails and just not really pay attention to them. Whereas other platforms like Social Media may spark more interest.
What are the Pros & Cons of Email Marketing?
What is Email Marketing?
Email Marketing is the process of Creating and Sending out carefully crafted Emails, that grab the attention of the reader into opening the email and potentially making a purchase.
What is an Open Rate?
Open rates are the percentage of people that have opened your email. For example, if you send out an email to 100 people and 50 people open it, the Open Rate of that specific Email Campaign is 50%.
The average open rate is 21%-42% according to Email Warm up. Which means on average, less than half of the people receiving emails open them.
Should I get into Email Marketing?
I think every organization should have an Email Marketing Platform, however the amount of emails you send out depends on your type of business. If you sell an item or service to the general public, you should send out more emails, whereas if your product or service is for a select group of people/organizations, it shouldn't be heavily relied on.
B2C (Business 2 Consumer)
If you sell a product or service for the General Public, that sells items such as Soap, Clothes, Jewelry, or a service like Haircuts, Massages, Meditations.
Email Marketing is very important, and you should send out multiple emails a week. Email Marketing would be great for these organizations, so you can keep customers up to date on the latest products, services and discounts going on within your organization.
B2B (Business 2 Business)
If you sell an Item or a Service that isn't often needed, or not needed by the general public, like if your organization provides services like selling Garbage Trucks, Restoration Services or Trucking Registrations.
Email Marketing doesn't need to be your main focus, and I'd recommend only sending out an email 2-4 times a month. This is because these organizations rely on people or businesses with a specific problem most people don't have, most people don't need a Garbage Truck and would be better having someone directly call or message places that would need one, such as a sanitation company, or a Municipality.
How do I start getting into Email Marketing?
The best way to start is by asking clients or organizations to give you their email address for future email updates, you can also provide a freebie or a discount code that they can grab, so they're more willing to give you their email.
What Platforms allow me to send out mass emails? Also known as ("Email Blasts")
My personal favorite Emailing Platform is Brevo, as it's cheaper and easy to use! However, there is also Active Campaign, Mail Chimp and Constant Contact, just to name a few.
